About Us and Legal Info

We are the "Official Band of the Alabama Division of Reenactors."  Please visit their website for more information.

As you look through these pages, prepare to take a step back in time. You can review the history of the 5th Alabama, see some "living history" in our photographs, and even purchase some merchandise to support the glorious cause.

The goals of the 5th Alabama Infantry Regiment Band are the preservation of the history and principles of the the Old South through the performance of the the music of that era, some of which has not been heard for well over 135 years.

As a  Reenactment group, the 5th Alabama Infantry Regiment Band has become a well-known participant in War Between the States reenactments, period balls, and Cotillions all over the South.  Performing in period costumes, the Band has played well over 195 War Between the States reenactments from Virginia to Louisiana and in both capitols of the Confederate States of America.  The Band has played for the National Conventions of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the Sons of Confederate Veterans, and the National Civil War Preservations Trust Society.  We have played for National and State Parks, Heritage Preservation organizations, Spring Pilgrimage groups as well as local church's and civic organizations.

The Band has the repertoire to play hours of period music, and has performed in onstage concerts at the Jefferson Hotel Concert Hall, Richmond, Virginia, the Alabama Theatre in Birmingham, the Davis Theatre in Montgomery, the Bellingrath Gardens, Mobile, the Bama Theatre and the Moody Concert Hall, Tuscaloosa; the Mississippi University for Women Concert Hall in Columbus.  the Band's music has been highlighted in  several Alabama, North Carolina, and South Carolina Public Radio and Television performances as well as being played over seas by the British Broadcasting Company (BBC) for a Civil War series aired in Great Britain.  The Band was designated by the CSS Hunley Commission as the Official Band for the Internment Ceremonies for the crew of the CSS Hunley in Charleston, SC.  The Band has been designated as the official reenactment Band of CSA-E in Europe and was recently honored as the recipient of the prestigious Military Order of Stars and Bars - Judah P. Benjamin Merit Award.

Also, this page is not meant to discriminate against any people. Nor is any of the music we sell copyrighted. (Most of it, in fact, either predates modern copyright laws or is now in the public domain.) Nor do we believe in "white supremacy" or any of the stereotypes sometimes associated with the Confederacy. We are simply a reenactment band who enjoy the music of the period and wish to keep it's spirit alive.
